Christiania celebrates free spirit and life, so it’s not surprising to see a frog smoking a joint or necklace wearing snake.

This tree graces one of the entrances of Christiania, an independent neighborhood of Copenhagen, originally founded by hippies in the 1970s as a car free, free-thinking, drug-tolerating commune.

A rare chance to see a piece of street art in the making. The artist was wearing a scarf and hat to hide his face, so I did not ask his name and promised to photograph him only from the back.

This is just a detail from a larger image that surrounds an old shipping container in the corner of an empty lot. It features cases of fresh vegetables/plants but also oyster shells, which is appropriate as the lot is near the Navy Barracks on the Potomac River, which drains into the oyster rich Chesapeake Bay.
